Jamming out to your favorite bands and giving back to charity, sounds like a great deal right? Sub City once again is on the road for the Take Action Tour. The tour supports Patrick Pedraja, and encourages people to sign up to be in the Nation Marrow Registry.
This is the ninth year that Hot Topic and Sub City have put on this charitable tour. The tour collects funds for teens that are being charitable themselves. Patrick Pedraja was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia at age ten. Now 14 years of age Patrick along side with his parents created Driving for Donors. Driving for Donors is Patrick’s foundation where he and his family drive around the country in hopes of getting people to become apart of the National Marrow Registry. Overall Pedraja and his team have signed 22,000 donors and have risen well over $100,000. Just buying a ticket helps because 10% of each ticket sold goes to Patrick’s cause.
Headlining is We the Kings along with Mayday Parade, A Rocket to the Moon, There for Tomorrow, and Stereo Skyline. I got the pleasure of witnessing this amazing tour at the Tuscon, Arizona date. I had previosuly seen all of the bands who are on this tour and I must say that they compliment each other very well.
Stereo Skyline the three piece pop band were the openers, unfortunately they played very few songs, but it got the crowd fired up due to their high energy style pop. There for tomorrow came on after SS and brought something different to the show which I am sure gained them some new fans at The Rock venue. One of my favorites A Rocket to the Moon came to the stage after and played a lot of songs from their new CD The Bright Side. I love ARTTM so I guess it would be a little biased if I talked about how amazing they were. But, I was glad that they played new music rather then playing their old stuff.
One of the most anticipated of the night was Mayday Parade, who to my surprise were not the main advertised headliners. The band did the complete opposite of what A Rocket to the Moon did and played a lot of older music. They missed a lot of their of songs from their most popular album A Lesson In Romantics but their performance was enjoyable and was one of the more crowd pleasing of the night.
Then the headliners We the Kings came on, and blew me away. I love the new album Smile Kid and the band played at least 5 songs from the album. The new songs were even better live then when I was singing along with them in my car.The crowd knew all of the songs word for word and the band even walked off stage at one point letting the crowd finish the chorus for them.
After the show the five bands hung around with their fans just like they were best friends and even encouaged some of them to go sign up to be a donor because thats what the Take Action Tour is all about right?Sometimes its hard to find a charity that fits your interest. The Take Action Tour is the perfect opportunity to do your part and “take action”, raise money and have a great time.
